Cards in this deck (5)
- 1How are images stored on a computer?Digital images are made of pixels, metadata is stored as part of the image. Each pixel is represented by a sequence of bits. This tells the computer how to decode the image
- 2Explain how sound is stored in a computer?Sound waves are analogue; meaning they are continually changing therefore not have a measurable value.
A computer must convert a sound wave from an analogue to digital using A to DC (ADC)
Te height/ amplitude of the sound wave are measured at set intervals and stored as binary - 3how do computers operate and communicate?computers operate and communicate using binary
All data has to be represented in strings of 1s and 0s, they have to be represented by binary
The bits have to be arranged so they can be interpreted as image or sound - 4File Compression> File Compression aims to reduce the size of a file
> This is usually done top save storage space and reduce download time
>Uses compression algorithms that repackage the data or remove some of it - 5logic gates
