Cards in this deck (15)
- 1what is binarybinary is a number system that uses just two symbols 0 and 1
- 2what is cachecache is a special type of computer which can be accessed much faster than ram the cpu looks in the cache for the data it needs if data is there, it will retrieve it and process it. if data is not there, then the cpu accesses the system memory and then puts a copy of the new data in cache before processing it .
- 3what is flash memory-a special type of ram
-non volatile
-can't replace ram in a computer
-read/write speed too low - 4what is main memory ramthe memory is only temporary when the power is switched off the contents of ram are lost (they have to be reloaded during boots/starts up from the hard disk)
- 5what does volatile meandata is lost when power is switched off ram is a storing data and it stores the data you are working on
- 6memory order-bit
-nibble
-byte
-kilobyte
-megabyte
-gigabyte
-terabyte - 7name a type of magnetic storagehard disk drive
- 8what does rom meanread only memory
- 9what does bios meanbasic input output system
- 10what is clock speedthe number of instructions a processor can carry out per second
- 11if a cpu has a clock speed of 4ghz, how many instructions can be carried out per second4 billion
- 12what does the term core refer tothe number of processors contained within the system
- 13this type of memory temporarily stores instructions from the main memory its sits between the cpu and the main memorycache memory
- 14how equipment for people with disabilities works and how to correctly place the computer where they can get to to go on the computerSome disabilities mean that the input devices themselves need to be placed at convenient locations for the person. For example, someone with physical problems may need to have the input devices close by - as shown in the image, where a mechanical arm provides an excellent means of access
