Cards in this deck (21)
- 1What's low ecological validity?Low ecological validity is the findings from research study's which can be adapted to real-life settings.
- 2What's Structural processing? Is thinking about the physical appearance of a word.
e.g. Highlighting because it's bold and stands out.
- 3What's Phonetic processing?Thinking about the sound of the word.
e.g. words that rhyme.
- 4What's Semantic processing?Thinking about the meaning of the word.
e.g. Learning the definition of a word. - 5What's levels of processing? The depth at which information is recalled.
e.g.
Study done by Craik and Lockhart - 6What's a practical application? This is when you say how the study could improve.
e.g.
Instead of just reading something over and over. - 7What's inference?Things that we learn that make it difficult to recall other information that we have learnt.
- 8What's proactive? The Old information affecting new info.
- 9What's Retroactive?New information affecting old info.
- 10What's Proactive inference? Is where the info that we already know causes problems when we try to take in new info.

- 11What's Amnesia?Amnesia is the memory loss usually caused by physical injury to the brain.
e.g. car accidnet
- 12What's Anterograde Amnesia? Is being unable to learn new info after suffering brain damage.
Remember the A for AFTER!

- 13What's Retrograde Amnesia? The loss of memory for events that happened before brain damage occured.
- 14What's Encoding?Changing the info so that it can be stored.
- 15What's Storage?Holding info in the memory system

- 16What's Retrieval?Recovering info from storage
Remember the R for RECOVERING!
- 17What's Ecological? The results of the study can be applied to real life.
- 18What's the recency effect?Situations which happen towards the end.

- 19What's the primacy effect?Situations that happen first.
e.g. words at the top of a lost, which you could recall first. - 20What does context mean? The general setting or environment in which activities happen.
- 21What is the Hippocampus? The Hippocampus is a section of the brain which can read new info, without this you loose all memory.
This is antrograde amnesia
