Donald Clements English 13 cards

Cards in this deck (13)

  1. 1What Is an Object? An object is a software bundle of related state and behavior.
  2. 2What Is a Class?A class is a blueprint or prototype from which objects are created.
  3. 3What Is Inheritance?Inheritance is when an object or class is based on another object or class using the same implementation.
  4. 4What Is a Package?A package is a namespace that organizes a set of related classes and interfaces.
Conceptually, it is similar to different folders on one's computer.
  5. 5What is a Constructor?A member method with the same name as the class that gets called automatically as soon as you create an object. Its purpose is to initialize the state of the object, and provide a way to check that the passed parameters are consistent with expected use.
  6. 6What is an Interface? An Interface is a mechanism for spelling out a contract between two parties: the supplier of a service and the classes that want their objects to be usable with the service.
  7. 7What is OOP?OOP stands for Object Oriented Programing, and it is a programing paradigm.
  8. 8What is Encapsulation? An OOP concept for bundling data and methods that work on that data within one unit, e.g., a class in Java. Often described in conjunction with information hiding principles to infer that Objects should be black boxes that are only indirectly interacted with externally via their exposed methods.
  9. 9What is an Abstract class?Abstract classes are classes that contain one or more abstract methods. An abstract method is a method that is declared, but contains no implementation. Abstract classes may not be instantiated, and require subclasses to provide implementations for the abstract methods.
  10. 10What is a common Interface implementation?A common interface phenotype is a group of related methods with empty bodies.
  11. 11What is Polymorphism?Polymorphism is the ability of an object to take on many forms. The most common use of polymorphism in OOP occurs when a parent class reference is used to refer to a child class object.
  12. 12When would you use an interface over an abstract class.Interfaces represent common functionality that separate classes do or perform but do not express a IS-A relationship that exists in abstract classes.
  13. 13AbstractionThe abstraction is done when we need to only inherit from a certain class, but not need to instantiate objects of that class.
