Corrasion/Abrasion Particles (load) carried along the river, rub and wear away at the rock on the beds and banks (like sandpaper).
Attrition The rocks and pebbles hit each other and break down into smaller, smoother pieces or wear away to form sand.
Corrosion A chemical reaction betwwen certain rock types (e.g. limestone) and river water. The acid in water wears the rock away.
Hydraulic action The pressure of the water being pushed against the banks and bed of the river.
