Flowchart content

  1. Osteogenic Cell (stem Cell)

  2. Osteoblasts (Matrix synthesizing, responsible for bone Growth)

  3. Osteocyte (mature bone cell)

  4. OSteoclasts (bone resorbing Cell)

  5. Intramembraneous Ossification: forms skull and clavicle during fetal development

  6. Mesenchyme

  7. Forms Osteogenic Cells

  8. osteoblasts

  9. Thickening of Trabeculae

  10. Traps Osteocytes

  11. Blast Activity

  12. Periosteum

  13. Osteoclast Activity ( Molds bone into desired shape)

  14. Endrochondral Ossification of Long Bone: bone develops from hyaline cartilage during fetal developent. Forms bones below skull

  15. Chrondrocytes multiply and mesenchymal cells transform into osteoblasts.

  16. osteoblasts--> perisoteum

  17. Chrondrocytes Die--> Primary Marrow Space

  18. Trabeculae (spongy Bone) formed from osteoblast activity

  19. Medullary Cavity and the diaphysis elongates by osteoblast and osteoclast activity. Cartilage calcified and then eroded

  20. Endrochondral ossification of epiphysis

  21. Similar to steps 1-4 of long bone ossification but periosteum is not formed. Only Spongy bone is formed.

  22. UV Light

  23. Cholesterol--->Vit D

  24. Bloodstream

  25. Liver (Ca levels tell liver to stop producing)

  26. Vit D---> Calcidiol

  27. Kidneys (if needed, PTH can tell it to produce more calcitriol)

  28. Calcidiol---> Calcitriol
