Receive the patient´s study order

Puncture site selection

Avoid areas with bruises or skin lesions

The patient's arm should be in a comfortable position horizontally.

With the tourniquet, have the patient close and open the fist 3 to 5 times to better pump the blood, and then indicate to keep the fist closed.

Place the tip of the needle at a 15 to 30 degree angle over the surface of the vein, with a firm, steady motion, up to the lumen of the vein.

Fill the tubes in the corresponding order. depending on the studies requested.

Loosen the tourniquet and remove the needle, place a cotton pad on the puncture site

identify and label each tube with the patient's name
