Is as easy as assign numbers to individuals and randomly choosing from those numbers through an automated process.
The numbers that are choosen are the members that are included in the sample.
There are two ways in which researcher choose samples:
Lotery system and using generating software random number in table. Works with large population and has some advantages and disadvintages.
The researcher divides more extensive population into smaller groups.
A standard method to clasify by: sex, age, ethnicity, etc.
Split subject into mutually exclusive groups and use random sampling to choose from groups.
Select participants randomly that are spread out geographicaly.
The researcher randomly select areas and randomly selects from within those boundaries.
Usually analizes particular population in which sample consists of a some elements like: city, family, university, etc.
Researchers sel.ect clusters by driving the population into various smallers selections.
An extended implementation of the same old probability technique in which each member if the group is selected at regular periods to form a sample. There's an equal opportunity for every member of a population to be selected using this sampling technique.
Multisage sampling divides the large populations into stages to make the sampling process more practical.
A combination of stratified sampling or cluster sampling and simple random sampling is usuallly used.
For this a researcher will only need a sample, not the entire populatio. Further, the researcher is interested in particular strata within the population. Here is where the quota sampling helps in dividing the population helps in dividing the population into strata or groups.
Helps researcher find a sample when they are difficult to locate.
This system is used when the sample size is smalland not easily available.
Works like the ferreal program.
Once suitable subjetcs are found, assistence is asked to seek similar subjects to for considerable good size sample.
Researchers select samples based on knowledge and credibility.
Samples are selected from population because they are available to the researcher.
Examples are choosen if they are easy to recruit, and the sample does not represent the entire population.
