THIRD CONDITIONAL
We use to talk about imaginary/unreal situations in the past and to describe its results/consequences
We talk about a condition in the past that did not happen
Is also like a dream, but with no possibility of coming true.
Is formed from two parts
The if clause which expresses the conditional
The main clause which expresses the consequence or result
If+subject+had/'d or hadn't+past participle
Subject+would have/'d have or wouldn't have+past participle
We can replace would with other modals depending on teh situation
The if clause can precede or follow the main clause
When the if clause precedes the main clause , you use a comma to separate them
EXAMPLE: I would have reported the theft if I'd been there
EXAMPLE: If I'd known you were coming, I would have baked a cake
