SQL (STRUCTURED QUERY LANGUAGE)

1. QUERIES

   • Databases that allow storage of information in a neat format so that they can easily be retrieved.
   • - Query - a search or question performed in a database

2. QUERY LANGUAGE - written language which only writes specific queries e.g. SQL

3. QBE (QUERY BY EXAMPLE)

   • Allows the user to create queries based on a template - the database software allows you to set filters you want - it lets you specify fields and define queries e.g. MySQL

4. BOOLEAN OPERATORS

   • 'AND','OR, and 'NOT' operatiors help retrieve data because they provide results which are either 'true' or 'false'
   • Search engines use Boolean operators to filter results
