Surface Area And Volume Of Shapes

  1. 3D Shapes

    • Surface Area and Volume always use 3D Shapes. They never use 2D Shapes
  2. Volume

    • The Units are always Cubed
    • When working out the volume times all the numbers together
      • Example H:3 W:4 L:5
        • 3x4x5 = 60cm3
  3. Surface Area

    • The Units when working out surface area are always squared
    • When Working out the Surface Area times 2 number together but make sure each nuber is multiplied by every number
      • On most occasins you may have to multiply it by 2
        • You will find this out if there are two sides of the same hight, length and width
          • After all numbers are multiplied add them all together to get the Surface Area
      • Example H:3 W:4 L:5
        • 3x5x2
          • 30cm2
            • 30=
              • 94cm2
                • This is the surface area of this shape!
        • 3x4x2
          • 24cm2
            • 24+
        • 5x4x2
          • 40cm2
            • 40+
