User Interfaces

1. What is a User Inteface?

   • A User Interface is a mathod that allows you to interact with the device.

2. Command Line Interface

   • Allows the user to interact directly with the computer system by typing in commands (instructions).
   • Advantages: This interface requires much less memory. A low resolution, a cheaper monitor can be used with this interface. If the user knows the correct commands then this interface is much faster than other types of interfaces.
   • Disadvantages: It can be very confusing for someone who has never used the interface before. Command have to be typed in precisely (if there is a spelling error the command will fail). You have to learn the commands.

3. Menu Driven Interface

   • This interface lets you interact with a computer or device by working your way through a series of screens and menus.
   • Advantages: No commands to learn or remember. Don't need huge amounts of processing power or memory. Step-by-step options are given so that the user doesn't have to remember anything.
