Reconstructing arguments

  1. Rearly that arguments are presentet clearly with premises leading to a conclusion

    • (1) Identify premises and conclusion
      • (2) Identify the structure of the argument
        • Simple structure: P = C
        • T-argument: P1 + P2 = C
        • V-argument: P1 = C AND P2 = C (2 premisies offer support for the conclusion on their own)
      • Look for missing premises - what is reasonable to think that the proponent beliefs, but has forgoten to mension
        • Presuppositions - premises logicaly needed for the argument to be sound (often so obious to the proponent of the argument that it is not statet, or unaware of it)
