P4 Revision
What Happens to the distance between the nucleus and an electron when electromagnetic radiation is emitted? There are more filled energy levels between the nucleus and the outermost electrons, So as the radius of the atom increases, the distance between the nucleus and the outer electron increases and therefore the force of attraction between the nucleus and outer most electrons is reduced.
What Did Scientists conclude about the charge on the 'Pudding Part' of the atom? The 'plum-pudding model' model of the atom suggested that it was just a ball of positive charge with negative electrons embedded in it. The results from the alpha scattering experiment led to the conclusion that the mass of an atom was concentrated at the centre (Called a nucleus) and that the nucleus was Positively charged.
What Is Meant By The term Isotope? each of two or more forms of the same element that contain equal numbers of protons but different numbers of neutrons in their nuclei, and hence differ in relative atomic mass but not in chemical properties; in particular, a radioactive form of an element.
