Half-Wave Rectifier

1. Current

   • The rectifier conducts currrent only during the positive half-cycles of input a.c. supply
     • Negative half-cycles of a.c. supply are suppressed
       • No current is conducted and hence no voltage
   • Always flows in one direction (DC)

2. Frequency

   • Is equal to the input frequency (50 Hz).
     • F out = F in

3. Rectifier efficiency

   • The ratio of d.c. power output to the applied input a.c. power
     • Rectifier efficiency, η = d.c. power output / Input a.c. power
