Data Analysis Tools

1. Tables

   • A table is an organised, structured store of data
   • Each column is a field
   • A field is an item of data e.g. size, price, preferences
   • Tables can be linked

2. Visualisation of data

   • Charts and graphs help users to visualise complex data
   • Database software can produce graphs or export data to graphing software

3. Trend and Pattern Identification

   • This allows users to identify trends and patterns.
   • E.g. Has Sales gone up, or crime rate, etc.

4. Data Cleaning

   • Deleting or archiving records that have not been used for set period of time.
   • Some records, like tax, need to be kept no matter what. Others, like customer records, can be deleted after a period of time.

5. Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

   • These are linked to satellites above the Earth.
   • GIS is software that uses information collection from GPS satellites
