Computer Performance
Cores
- You would want multiple cores because then your computer would be able to multitask faster.
- Your device would need the specification for software not to be met.
- The core allows the device to run applications simultaneously. You can have quad cores, dual cores and so on but they're all individual processors.
- It improves the performance by allowing multiple applications/instructions to run at the same time.
- You would want multiple cores because then your computer would be able to multitask faster.
RAM
- RAM (Random Accessed Memory) stores the programs, parts of the operating system and the files currently being used.
- More programs can be opened at the same time.
- Virtual Memory is used when RAM is full. By increasing the RAM, virtual memory is not relied on as much so more programs can be open at once.
Clock Speed
- Clock speed is how many fetch, decode and execute cycles can run per second. It's measured in hertz (Hz): 1GHz= 1,000,000,000 cycles per second.
- Clock speed makes your programs run faster so you'll be able to access your programs quicker.
- Programs will run faster as more instructions can run per second.
Cache
- Cache stores frequently accessed instructions in your computer.
- It would make your frequently used programs load faster.
- Recently used data can be accessed quicker.
Solid State
- Solid state uses microchips to store data instead of magnetised disks and does not contain any moving parts.
- Programs and data will load faster.
- By having a solid state hard drive,
