1.1 Mind Map
Concept 1-1A Nature has been sustained for billions of years by relying on solar energy, biodiversity, and chemical cycling
- Sceinetific Principles of Sustainablily
- Dependence on Solar energy
- Chemical Cycling
- Earth doesn't get a weekly restock of supplies from Outerspace so our planet must recycle all of its resources. In nature the is very little waste because everything from the water to soil goes through a cycle of renewal
- Biodiversity
- Our ecosystem needs to be diverse for us to survive. Feeding relationships and natural services are highly dependent on the interspecies relationships occurring. Also when we have high leves of biodiversity the ecosystme has a higher stability level
- The sun does so much for our planet it provides warmth, energy, feed our plants, powers wind and flowing water
- Chemical Cycling
- Dependence on Solar energy
- Our environment is a complex system that surrounds us and provides us with so many things! A home, food, water, resources.
- Environmental Science is an interdisciplinary study that has three main goals
- #2 To understand how we interact with the enviroment
- #1 To learn how life on Earth has survived and thrived
- #3 To Find ways to deal with environmental problems and live more sustainably
- Sceinetific Principles of Sustainablily
Concept 1-1B Our lives and economies depend on energy from the sun and in natural resources and ecosystem services provided by the Earth
Concept 1-1C We could shift toward living more sustainably by applying full cost pricing, searching for win-win solutions, and committing to preserving the Earth's life-support system for future generations
