Excretory system

Map content
Excretory system
Excretion: It's defined as the process or processes by which an organism eliminates the waste products of its chemical activities, and any substances that are in excess.
- URINARY SYSTEM:
- HOW DO THE KIDNEYS FILTER THE BLOOD?:
- Kidneys contain nephrons. Each nephron is made up of a glomerus (which are really tiny capillaries), and tubules. The glomerus has the function of filtering our blood due to its adaptations, while the tubules remove wastes from the blood and make sure to return the needed subtances into it.
THREE TYPES OF WASTES:
Carbon dioxide: Comes from respiration. It diffuses from the respiring cells into the plasma until it reaches the lungs. Then, difussion occurs again through the capillary and alveoli walls and it's breathed out.
Excess of water: The body gets rid of it through urine and/or sweat.
Urea: (Excess of amino acids): The liver breaks amino acids through deamination and the excess is excreted by the kidneys.
