PROBABILITIES
What is probability? Probability is the absence of any cause of events that can be predicted, understood, or controlled.
What is Experimental Probability? Experimental Probability is a probability that is determined on the basis of the results of an experiment repeated many times.
- Example: An example would be to flip a coin 40 times and record whether you get a head or a tail.
What is Theoretical Probability? Theoretical probability is the probability that is determined on the basis of reasoning.
- Example: For instance, since a flipped coin has two sides and each side is equally likely to land up, the the theoretical probability of landing heads (or tails) is exactly 1 out of 2.
Examples #1: Card Games: For example, playing card games is an example of probability because it makes you think what could the percentage of probability to win a game.
Example #2: Winning a Lottery: Another example is winning the lottery. How possible is it to win the lottery, well.... it's not impossible though but just thinking of how many persons had bought a ticket for it.
