Influences in Wired

  1. Stimulus

    • "For this project you will undertake to create a verbatim performance. “Verbatim is … a technique - a way of incorporating the words of real people, as spoken in private interview or public record, into drama.” (Hammond and Stewart, 2008, p. 1) The subject (stimulus) you will be exploring is how the internet and social media have affected (for better and/or worse) the way in which we have lived during lockdown and how living in lockdown with only the media as our contact with the outside world has influenced our perceptions of it"
      • Verbatim theatre seeks to represent the stories of the people in their own words. It can be an excellent way to connect with and get involved in various political issues. It uses real, spoken accounts from interviews and archives as either a loosely-followed basis or as a strict set of guidelines, depending on practitioner. A problem with verbatim theatre is that is can be static. However, this can be overcome by the addition of song/music/dance, such as in Alecky Blythe's London Road, which is a musical utilising these 'pure' interviews.
