co ordinate geometry

co ordinate geometry

1. It is a branch of mathematics which deals with the position of a point with respect to a plane

2. The position of the point is measured with help of graphs

3. developed by the renowned French mathematician Rene Descartes

4. let us take a example locate a point A(2,3) on the number line

   • in the following graph A(2,3) is the blue point shown

5. What are quadrants?

   • The horizontal axis in the coordinate plane is called the x-axis. ... The intersecting x- and y-axes divide the coordinate plane into four sections. These four sections are called quadrants. Quadrants are named using the Roman numerals I, II, III, and IV beginning with the top right quadrant and moving counter clockwise.
