DECISION-MAKING
Alternatives
- Good solutions are not possible without good alternatives. Yet we often move to a single solution, without truly exploring distinct and creative alternatives. Technical teams take on the task of delivering “recommendations” to decision makers.
Uncertainty
- Uncertainty is a key contextual factor that affects the decision-making of multinational corporations on many types of international operation. However, the variety of ways in which uncertainty has been defined and studied in the international business literature, has contributed to a fragmented view of MNC behavior and of the role of uncertainty in international decision-making.
High risk consequences
- When people say they must make a decision involving risk, they often mean that the decision involves the possibility of an adverse consequence. This report does not deal with risk and decision making so broadly defined, since almost every important decision in life entails the possibility of an adverse consequence.
Interpersonal issues
- When we’re in conflict, there are many decisions to be made during and after it is over. Even when we anticipate dissension, there are decisions to make about how to effectively engage in the interaction. Our ability to make any sort of decision about conflictual matters and the relationship dynamic decrease the more upset we become.
Complexity
- The complexity is the consequence of interactions between actors connected in different arenas, who are all thinking about the same project.
