UNIVARIATE STATISTICAL MEASURES
Measures of central tendency
- They are called measures of central tendency because generally the highest accumulation of data is found in the intermediate values.
- Fashion is symbolized MO
- Indicates a value of the variable around which an observation group is located
- It is the most frequent value in a data set.
- It is considered as the most representative or triptych value of a series of values.
- If two values have the same frequency, the set is said to be bimodal.
- When more than two values occur with the same frequency and this is the highest multimode
- When more than two values occur with the same frequency and this is the highest multimode
- If two values have the same frequency, the set is said to be bimodal.
- median
- K is denoted as the number of lower observations and above average
- "It is defined as that value that divides the frequency distribution in such a way that the number of frequencies that remain to its left is equal to the number of those that remain to its right" (Monter, 2007)
- When the total number of data is odd, a single value is provided
- The mean is the value that occupies K+ 1 of the distribution
- The mean is the value that occupies K+ 1 of the distribution
- When the total number of data is even there will be two median values
- In this case “it is agreed to take the arithmetic mean of both as the median value. However, this is nothing but an agreement. One or the other could perfectly well be taken as the median” (Montero, 2007).
- and another will take the place

- arithmetic average
- “In the arithmetic mean, each value of the variable is weighted by its relative importance in the distribution. However, it does not have to coincide with any value of the distribution” (Montero, 2007).
- “It is the sum of all the values of the variable divided by the total number of observations. it was denoted by X” (Garcia, 2005)
- Defined by the expression
- also
- also
- Geometric mean is represented by the letter G
- "It is defined as the Nth root of the product of the values of the variable raised to their corresponding absolute frequencies" (Montero, 2007)
- "It is defined as the Nth root of the product of the values of the variable raised to their corresponding absolute frequencies" (Montero, 2007)
- Harmonic Mean (H)
- is defined as the inverse of the arithmetic mean
- Harmonic measurement has the advantage that in its calculation all the values of The variable; however, it doesn't make sense use when some value of the distribution is zero” (Montero, 2007)
- Harmonic measurement has the advantage that in its calculation all the values of The variable; however, it doesn't make sense use when some value of the distribution is zero” (Montero, 2007)
- It is usually used when the units of measurement of the analyzed variable are given in the form of a quotient.
- is defined as the inverse of the arithmetic mean
