1. Dual Alliance 1879

   • Impact on International Relations
     • Increased relations
       • Resulted in more allies
   • Terms
     • If either country was attacked by Russia, the other would defend them
     • If either country was attacked by another country, except Russia, they would remain neutral
     • It would remain a secret, and would last 5 years, with it being renewed every 3 years after
   • Reasons
     • Had the same interests and common enemies
     • Gave them more allies
     • Resulted in the Triple Alliance
   • Germany and Austria Hungary

2. Dual Entente

   • Reasons
     • Mutual suspicion of Germany
     • Russia needed foreign investment to develop industry
     • Russia received French loans, while France received military security
   • Impact on International Relations
     • Able to prepare for the worst scenario
     • Could use allies to the best of their ability
   • Terms
     • If either country is attacked by Germany in any way, the other must provide them with support
     • If any countries in the Triple Alliance are mobilised, both shall mobilise their whole forces
     • Forces should be enforced in Germany on both the eat and west coast, so they fight simultaneously
     • General Staffs in both countries should cooperate at all time
     • Shall not conclude peace separately
     • Same duration as the Triple Alliance, and should also be kept a secret

3. Triple Alliance 1882

   • Terms
     • Germany and Italy would support each other if attacked by France
     • If attacked by another power, they would give mutual support
     • Italy would remain neutral if there was a war between Russia and Austria-Hungary
     • It was to be kept secret
   • Reasons
     • Saw each other as useful allies
     • Be able to achieve more for their country, i.e. allies, power, land etc
   • Impact on International Relations
     • Increased allies
     • Reduced the risk of conflict, as countries would be fighting against more countries
     • Reduced the amount of victories during wars
