WORK MEASUREMENT

  1. Cycle time

    • Cycle Time is the amount of time a team spends actually working on producing an item, up until the product is ready for shipment. It is the time it takes to complete one task.
  2. Time by element

    • It is the time spent by each element of an operation. Optionally, you can calculate the average time of multiple measurements for each operation.
  3. Normal time

    • It is the time when work should be done without any delays
      • Normal time also called as the base time or levelled time, and it is the time that a trained worker needs to complete the task at a normal pace
        • TN = TP x FV TP =mean time FV = performance factor TN = normal time
  4. Standard time

    • It is the time taken by an employee to complete the work with 100% efficiency having some unavoidable situations leading to delays.
      • ST= (NT)(1+A) ST= standard time NT= normal time A= allowance (in decimal, it is the percentage of fatigue or delay)
  5. Workload

    • “the set of psycho-physical requirements to which the worker is subjected throughout the working day”. In any work activity, physical work and mental work coexist, in variable proportion depending on the task
  6. Takt time

    • Matching your production levels to customer demand reduces waste by preventing buildup of excess inventory while safeguarding against unplanned increases in production to meet demand
