The working memory model

1. Central Excutive

   • Information arrives here from the five senses of long term memory
   • It controls the flow of info in and out of working model and directs attention to particular tasks
   • Evidence: Baddeley (1996)

2. Phonological loop

   • The phonological store: recieves auditory information and stores words we hear
   • The articulatory process: Allows us to silently repeat words we hear preparing to speak
   • Evidence: Baddeley et all, Trojani and Grossi-Brain damage

3. Visuo-spatial sketchpad

   • Which stores information about form and colour
   • Evidence: Gathercole & Baddeley-moving light and hollow F

4. Episodic Buffer

   • Stores info from the other 3 components and long term memory
   • Evidence: Baddeley (1987)
