4. WHAT IS AN OPERATING SYSTEM AND WHAT DOES IT DO?

   • An operating system is a type of software that that manages the hardware and provides the PC with a GUI (Graphical User Interface)
   • MEMORY MANAGEMENT
     • This makes sure that programs have space allocated in the RAM ( Random Access Memory )
   • Storage Managment
     • It is responsible for storing data in the computers storage devices and creating directories so that the data can be retreived
   • Device managment
     • Makes sure that all of the input and output devices are working properly and handles all communication between the devices
   • Basic Security
     • The OS also manages basic security usually things like passwords though to get better security you might have to download other anti - virus and anti - malware sofwares
