SEMANTICS

1. Semantics is the study of meaning in language. Meaning is a much less tangible notion than those introduces in the above chapters on phonology, morphology and syntax.

   • SEMANTICS AND PHONETICS
     • Phonetics is the study of physical side of linguistics utterances the articulation and percepcion of speech sounds
   • SEMANTICS AND MORPHOLOGY
     • Is the study of the structure of words and how they are formed. In linguistics, this term acquires a specialized meaning: 'study of the forms of words' and, by extension, 'study of the word'.

2. SEMANTICS AND SYNTAX

   • Is the study of the formation of sentences, how words are combined to larger units than words to prhases and sentences that are well formed strings in a given language

3. SEMANTICS VS PRAGMATICS

   • Is the study of the situaded uses of language, the study of language in relation to the users of language . study of the linguistic communication as a social activity.

4. SEMANTICS AND MEANING

   • The meaning of the words is to be derived from the relation bettween words,concepts and things in the real word
