1. Atom: an atom is something all substances are made up of.

   • An atom is the simplest form of an element
     • An element contains one type of atom
       • A compound is two or more elements which are chemically bonded
       • A mixture is 2 or more elements mixed together which are NOT chemically bonded and can be seperated

2. ATOMS

   • An atom is made up of three things: protons, neutrons and electrons
     • An atoms has a tiny nucleus made up of neutrons and protons and its surrounded by electrons
     • REMEMBER: protons = positive, neutrons = neutral and Electrons = negative

3. ATOMIC STRUCTURE

   • 12 = Atomic Mass ( number of protons + nuetrons
   • 6= atomic number (number of protons = number of electrons)
   • p = 6
   • E = 6
   • N= 12-6 = 6
