1. ¿What is an embedded computer?

   • An embedded computer system includes a microcomputer
     • Usually it includes mechanical, chemical, and electrical devices – specific dedicated purpose, and – packaged as a complete system

2. Applications:

   • --communications-- automotive --military --medical --consumer --machine control

3. A propertie of the embedded microcomputer system is that it runs at real itme.

   • A real time system specifies an upper bound on the time required to perform the input/calculation/output response to external events

4. The microprocessor is the integration of a number of useful functions into a single IC package

5. HIstory of the Microcontrolers.

   • The first microprocessor was developed by Intel
     • In 1974 the more powerful second generation microprocessor was announced fabricated as a single chip.
       • At about the same time Motorola released its first microprocessor, the 6800, which was also an 8 bit processor with about the same processing power as that of the Intel 8080. The architecture of these 2 were very simmilar

6. A microcontroler consist of an ALU , a register, acontrol unit and busses.

7. Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) calculates arithmetical and / or logical functions:

   • For example:Subtraction, Multiplication, Logical: Comparison Disjunction Antivalence , Miscellaneous: Right- and Left Shift,Rotation, Register-Bit-Manipulation
     • Most ALUs process Fixed Point Numbers
