Unit 3 - Security LO1 1.2
Unauthorised access
- This focuses espcially on hacking, as hackers gain access to other computer systems without permission of the owner, therefore it is an unauthorised access.
- Another example of unauthorised access is escalation of privileges, which means, for example, that teachers give themselves a higher level of access as they actually should have.
Modification of data
- Data can be changed by those who have authority to do so. The data will still be useful.
- An example of this are teachers which change GCSE grades of students.
Inaccessible data
- This refers to denying access to certain data from specific people.
- For example, students shouldn't have access to the teachers' drive.
Destruction
- This means to delete data which is not needed anymore, such as data of customers which didn't shop for longer than two years.
- Also this could reflect on viruses which delete data that is still needed
Theft
- This means stealing data, property or money using hacking software.
- An example of this could be a Trojan virus.
