Number Patterns and recursion
Fibonacci type Sequences
- Each new term is made by adding the previous two terms
- Fibonacci sequence starts at 1,1
- Fibonacci type sequences have different starting points (eg. Lucas sequence starts with 1 and 3)
- Each new term is made by adding the previous two terms
Arithmetic Sequences
- each new term is made by adding a fixed number called the common difference (d)
- d can be found by subtracting a term from the previous term, i.e d = t2-11 It can be posiitive or negative
- d can be found by subtracting a term from the previous term, i.e d = t2-11 It can be posiitive or negative
- each new term is made by adding a fixed number called the common difference (d)
Geometric Sequences
- each new term is made by multiplying the previous term by a fixed number called the common ration (r)
- r can be found by dividing the next term by the current term r = t2/t1
- r can be found by dividing the next term by the current term r = t2/t1
- each new term is made by multiplying the previous term by a fixed number called the common ration (r)
