Computing 1.1 System Architecture
Processor
- MHz
- GHz
- Hertz
- Instruction
- Embedded System
- Software which is made up of hardware and software. Built into another device. It doesn't rely upon a OS. Used to provide specific pre defined functions.
- Clock Speed
- How fast the CPU can run (in cycles).
- Cache
- Core
- The more cores the more executes that can be executed per second simultaneously.
- Contains the ALU, Control Unit and registers
- Used to fetch ,decode ,execute and repeat instructions.
Secondary Storage
- Used to back up data needed for larger storage capacity
Virtual Memory
- Uses a section of the computer storage as temporary ram.
ROM and RAM
- RAM is volatile memory because it disappears if you reset it.
- ROM is non-volatile because it stays when you reset .
