  1. IDE

    • IDE= Integrated Development Environment
    • Example IDLE
      • Phython
    • Tools
      • Editor
        • Write/Edit code, colour keywords, autocomplete code
      • Compiler
        • Converts the source code into machine code so that it can be executed as a stand-alone program file.
        • The difference between a compiler and an interpreter is that a compiler can convert the source code into machine code while an interpreter translates source code line by line allowing you to test that line.
      • Interpreter
        • Allow you to translate source code line by line when testing your code
      • Debugger
        • Identifies errors in your code and can highlight the location of the error/reason/ suggestions on how to fix the error.
      • Translator
        • It usually converts high level code into machine code
    • Advantages and Disadvantages
      • Advantages: Increased efficiency and faster coding with less effort and a group of programmers can easily work together within an IDE
  2. Machine code

  3. Assembly language

    • A high level language is easier for humans (easy for the programmer to understand). Whereas machine code and assmbly language are considered low level languages which are easier for computers to understand.
