Secondary Storage: Mind Map

  1. Solid State

    • The Solid State has the fastest read/write speed. Therefore, it is the complete opposite of the magnetic storage and the programs will load quicker.
    • It has lower capacity so you are unable to keep loads of data on it.
    • USB
    • SSD disc
  2. Optical Storage

    • It is less durable, so it would be easier to damage or break.
    • It is non-volatile, which means that the data on the disc is going to stay on there permanently.
    • CD
    • DVD
  3. Magnetic Storage

    • High Capacity - it is able to store a lot of data.
    • It's got the slowest read/write speed, therefore the programs will load slower.
    • Floppy disc
    • Hard Drive
  4. Is non-volatile storage. It is needed in a computer system to store your programs, operation systems and files.

    • Non-volatile means that the data is not deleted when the computer system has no power connected to it.
