   • Data Protection Act
     • Gives rights to data subejects
       • Data should be adequate, relevant and not excessive for the specified use
       • Data should not be kept longer than necesarry
       • Data should not be transferred abroad without adequate protection
       • Data must only be used in a fair and lawful way
       • Data must be accurate and kept up-to-date
       • Data should be kept safe and secure
       • The rights of the data subjects must be observed
       • Data must only be used for the specified purpose
     • Companies must register with the government and say what info they are holding and how theyll use it
   • Freedom of Information Act
     • allows members of the public to access information held by a public organisation about its activities
       • This includes: Houses of parliament, local councils, armed forces, NHS,police authorities,schools and unis
   • Computer Misuse Act
     • Prevents illegal access to files
       • gaining Unauthorised access or unauthorised modification of computer material
