   • Calls for understanding of materials
     • understanding computers
       • limitations
       • capacities
       • tools it can offer
       • platforms it can work on
     • understand people
       • people have different psychological abilities
       • interaction calls for social aspects
       • human errs
     • understand interaction between both components

   • Requirements
   • Analysis
   • Design
   • Iteraction and prototyping
   • Implementation/development

3. Design Calls for Gathering Requirement

   • requirement is what user want or desire from a system which they believe can deliver them a business advantage
     • need to establish what exactly needed
     • need to clarify what goals user want addressed
   • HCI utilize many techniques to gather requirements
     • interview
     • observation (field study, videotaping them)
     • study documents or artifacts they work with

4. Design Calls for Stakeholder Identification

   • Requirement are gathered from stakeholder
   • identify stakeholders is the key to requirements capture
     • not simply end user who is affected by the technology
     • stakeholder is anyone affected by the success or failure of a system
   • Primary, Secondary, Tertiary
     • Primary : people who use the system
     • Secondary : people who do not use the system but provide input or receive output from it
     • Tertiary : do not fall in the 1st or 2nd category but affected by the success/failure system

5. User Wants

   • can be influenced through marketing
   • something we'd like to have for whatever rational or irrational reason
   • example : user wants IPhone because it is beautiful and trendy

6. User Need

   • can be fulfilled by various amounts of actions of objects
   • something that solves an actual or imaginary problem
   • example : user need communication device to connect with families overseas within reasonable price
