1. Cells

   • Always starts with a letter and sends with a number
   • A range of cells is called a set of cells in a row or column
   • Cells can be any type of data, e.g text or numbers
   • Cells can contain labels, data or formulas and functions.

2. Formulas

   • Must start with an =
   • Formulas perform calculations on cell contents
   • Formulas appear in the formula bar
   • Every time the spreadsheet is changed the formula automatically recalculates
   • + Add
     • - Subtract
       • * Multiply
         • / Divide

3. Functions

   • Must start with an =
   • Part of spreadsheet software.
   • Perform special calculations.
   • The function name describes what the function can do

4. Formatting

   • The content of a cell can be formatted
   • Font style, size, colour, border style and alignment can be changed
   • Multiple cells can be merged into one cell
   • Cell formatting usually relates to the meaning of the data contained in the cell/ cells
