Remote Controller
Types
- Radio Remote Control
- RF remote controls are used to control distant objects using a variety of radio signals.
- Garage Doors, Gates and Burglar Alarms
- Costs higher and has a very complex circuit.
- Infrared Remote Control
- IR remote control uses light, and it requires a line of sight to operate.
- TV Remotes, Electric Whiteboards and Lights
- Have a rather lower cost and quite easy to encode.
- Game Contoller
- Is an input device to provide input to a video game, typically to control an object or character in a game.
- PS4, XBox and Nintendo Wii
- May contain directional pads, multiple buttons, analog sticks, motion detection and touch screens.
- Radio Remote Control
Electronics
- L.E.D
- Light Emitting Diode
- May use infrared L.E.D that in invisible to the eye
- Controls/Buttons
- Uses binary code
- Binary command gets sent from button to L.E.D device, which sends input to the TV.
- Microprocessor
- Also known as CPU
- Functions as an artificial
- Recieves instructions from other components.
- L.E.D
Material
- Screens and Covers
- Some remotes come equipped with small screens, while all have a plastic cover that encases the TV remote signal area.
- Plastics that can be used in clear plastics include ABS, nylon, silicone, styrene and thermoplastic polyurethane.
- This remote eye typically sits at the top of the remote encased in a plastic.
- Fillers
- Fillers are added during the injection molding process and may include glass, carbon, aramid or stainless steel fibers.
- These provide added strength without extra weight.
- Remote Case
- Formed from a molded plastic
- Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)
- Thermally conductive polymers are also used to dissipate heat built up by the remote.
- The plastic also often requires electromagnetic and radio frequency interference shielding to protect the remote against interference from other wireless devices.
- Buttons
- Keypads and buttons are made from any number of thermoplastic elastomers because of their "rubbery" composition.
- Some of these TPEs include Estane, Arnetell, Santoprene, Pellethane, Dynaflex, Polytrope or Sarlink.
- Screens and Covers
Uses
- Garages and Gates
- TV
- Controlling substations, power stations and HVDC-plants.
- Jammers in the military
- To take far pictures in photography
- Video Game Consoles
- Radio/Speaker
- Cars
