Scientific Method

1. 1. Observation

   • What do I see in my surroundings or nature? This can be from your own experiences or thoughts

2. 2. Collect data

   • Research information about your topic and gather the information necessary.

3. 3. Ask a question

   • Ask a question based on the problem you observed.

4. 4. Hypothesis

   • Write a possible answer to your question. What is going to happen?

5. 5. Experimental Design

   • You describe how you are going to test your hypothesis. You describe the procedure. It includes the independent variable ( what you manipulated to see a change), the dependent variable ( what you measure), controlled variables ( kept the same) and the control group ( used to compare the results).

6. 6. Results

   • You analyze your results and you decide how to present tables and graphs for your results. The results will show if your hypothesis is supported or not.

7. 7. Conclusions

   • Analyze your data and come up with an answer to your question.

8. 8. Share Results

   • You share your results with people so they can see the information you find.
