1. Cyber attacks

   • Phishing
     • Sending a fake email pretending to be a bank or a organisation and try to get there imformation
   • Malware
     • Malicious software witch causes harm
   • Ransomware
     • malware that encrypts users files and demands money for them to decrypts them
   • botnet
     • a network of computers witch contain malware allowing them to be controlled
   • keylogger
     • malware that records imformation and send it to the hacker for analysis

2. Cyber defences

   • Sucurity software
     • Often called an antivirus it deals more then viruses it scans the computer removes any viruses and need to keep it up to date with the most malware definitions
   • White- hat hacking
     • A person with authorisation with the company/person to hack into there computers and report any flaws
   • Grey-hat hacking
     • Hacking done without the authorisation of the company but with good intenions and reports back to the company
   • Backups
     • Keeping a copy of importent imformation just incase it gets damged they can still get the oringonal copy

3. Encryption

   • Cipher
     • a method of encrypting data
   • plain text
     • the uncrypted data
   • Ciphertext
     • The encrypted data
   • Key
     • Some information needed to encrypt/decrypt the data
   • Crack
     • to read encrypted data without being given the key beforehand
   • Brute force
     • crack a cypher by trying every possible key untill successful
   • statistical attack
     • using other/our language to crack a cipher for example "and" or "The" to crack the cipher
