7.3 - Computational Thinking

  1. Computational thinking - Computational thinking allows us to take a complex problem, understand what the problem is and develop possible solutions. We can then present these solutions in a way that a computer, a human, or both, can understand.

  2. Abstraction - Focusing on the important parts of a problem.

  3. Decomposition - breaking down a complex problem into smaller parts.

  4. Pattern recognition - Looking for similarities among and within problems.

  5. Algorithms - simple, instructions intended for a robot to carry out.

  6. Sequence - following an ordered set of instructions

  7. Terminator - Shows the start and stop points of the algorithm

  8. Selection - Making a decision within a computer program to decide which instruction to carry out next.

  9. Decision - A decision, either yes or no.

  10. Connector - connects the flowchart shapes.

  11. Process - An instruction or command.

  12. Input/output - An input is data received by a computer. An output is a data sent from a computer.
