1. Tulvings 1972 distinction is problematic

   • ABM involves LTM which can contain episodic and semantic knowledge reps e.g. spatio temporal and factual
     • semantic memory is said to be an abstraction of episodic
   • Conway 2001 - sensory perceptual episodic memory
     • experience near and event specific
       • ABMs
       • doesn't integrate unless relevant link to ABM and WS
         • thus access to episodic memories is often lost and more general info is available (semantic)

2. Recollective experience

   • occurs when experience near, sensory-perceptual knowledge is accessed during memory construction
   • sense of self in the past
     • images, feelings
       • lets you know its a real memory and not a dream/fantasy/plan
         • high probability that event occurred
