Network Security
Fire Wall
- A fire wall prevents or allows data in and out of the network that you are using.
- If you don't have a fire wall any data that you hold can get out and other data can get in.
- A fire wall is important because it makes sure that when you don't want information going out or in then it won't let it.
Encryption
- Scrambled data that can only be figured if you know how it was scrambled. Basically code.
- Encryption is needed to ensure that if someone comes across an extremely important piece of information on your desktop they can't read it because they won't know how it is scrambled.
- If you didn't have encryption then anyone that gets into your files can read what you have written and if it is important they can access it and it could be dangerous for them to have that information.
Passwords
- A word or phrase that only you know to protect your information or data.
- Passwords are important to have because if someone trying to get into your computer can't guess it then your information is safe.
- If you don't have a password then anyone can access your files.
Physical Security
- Security that protects your data physically not via software.
- Physical security is important because an air con would be a form of physical security and an air con can cool down your monitor to ensure that it doesn't catch fire.
- If you don't have physical security then your monitor could catch fire and several other things could go wrong.
User Access Levels
- This prevents and allows what users can access.
- If you don't have user access levels, any user can access all the information on that network so all the personal information could get deleted.
- User access levels stop people that you don't want accessing different levels.
