Error Handeling
Types of errors
- Syntax errors
- When the grammar rules are broken by the coder.
- For example doing: if time == (night) instead of: if time == ("night")
- Run-time errors
- They occur when the program instructs the computer to do a task it cannot or is slow to do.
- The most common run time error is were a program instructs the computer to divide any number by zero which is ∞ (Infinity), so the computer cannot cry out the command or is stuck in a never ending loop.
- Logical errors
- These errors are normally the hardest to find out of the three errors as they are wrong in the way you think.
- This can be counteracted by using Pseudocode or a DFD so you can work through it logically before coding.
- A logical error will not stop the code from working, all it will do is produce incorrect results.
