Input, Output and storage devices

1. Input devices

   • Chip and pin
     • Works by the gold or silver metallic card in the corner of your card.
   • Keyboard
     • Works by a little electrical circuit underneath the keys on the board.
   • Mouse
     • Works by using a light source, typically an LED, and a light detector.
   • Microphone
     • Works by converting energy from one form to another.
   • Sensitive touchscreen
     • Works by a electric circuit that conducts electrodes separated by an insulated gap.
   • Scanner
     • Works by the light passing through the scanner lens and reaches the CCD sensors.
   • Optical pen
     • Works by electric circuits.
   • Camera
     • Works by a lightproof box that lets in a little bit of light at the right time.
   • Joystick
     • Works by taking something entirely physical, then translating it into something entirely mathematical.
   • Track ball
     • Work by using a optical sensor to read the movements of the dots.

2. Storage devices

   • Memory stick
     • Works by a device reading the stick by scanning it.
   • SIM card
     • Works by the GSM that reads the chip.
   • Memory card reader
     • Works by the number pin scanner
   • Floppy disk
     • Works by scanning data.
   • Zip disk
     • Works by a red/ white technology
   • Storage tape
     • Works by scanning data that it has to read.
   • DVD
     • Works by a laser beam.
   • Cd's
     • It works by a optical laser that
   • Compact disc
     • Works by a laser scanning the disk to play it.
   • Micro drive
     • Works by a compact flash
   • Flash drive
     • Reads the parts that have the object/ image or shapes on.

3. Output devices

   • Printer
     • It works by a laser beam that scans back and forth across a drum in the printer.
   • Speakers
     • Works by repelling a permanent magnet pumping sound waves out into the crowd.
   • Webcam
     • Works by capturing a little bit of light through the lens
   • Microphone
     • It works by converting accoustical energy into electrical energy.
   • Monitor
     • Works by liquid crystal display.
   • Projector
     • LCD screen throws a huge magnified image on to a wall
   • Headphones
     • Works by the 2 loud speakers that are mounted so the sound will come through the earbud piece.
   • Camera
     • Works by a light proof box that lets a little bit of light through the lens.
   • TV screen
     • Works by LCD (liquid crystal display)
   • Plotter
     • Works by laser lights.
