1. SOUND CARD

   • A device that can be slotted into a computer to allow the use of audio components for multimedia applications

2. POWER SUPPLY UNIT

   • The component that supplies power to a computer

3. GRAPHICS CARD

   • A printed circuit board that controls the output on a display screen

4. MOTHERBOARD

   • The central printed circuit board (PCB) that holds a crucial components of the system

5. PERIPHERALS

   • Peripherals are devices that are not part of the computers core architecture involved in memory and processing. Peripherals include input hardware, output hardware and storage devices

6. RAM

   • Random Access Memory, main memory of a computer that stores data. applications and operating system whilst in use. When the computer is turned off RAM loses its data

7. ROM

   • Read Only Memory, A store for data in a computer that cannot be over written. Data in ROM is always avaliable and is not lost when the computer is turned off

8. CPU

   • Central Processing Unit of the computer containing the control unit. ALU and cache memory

9. HARD DRIVE

   • Non-volatile memory hardware that permenantly stores and retrieves data

10. CPU FAN/ HEAT SINK

    • Used for expelling warm air from the inside or move air across a heat sink to cool a particular component
