TIG welding

TIG welding
welding electrode types:
- thoriated
- zirconiated
- lanthanated
- ceriated
- pure tungsten
facts:
- tungsten is a non consumable
- shielding gases are used. they are used to protect the weld. these also prevent oxidization.
- this uses a form of filler wire to help solidify the weld pool and form the actual weld.
- gas used is an inert gas usually argon. gas reaches the weld by being fed out of the cylinders and goes to the machine then finally out of the torches nozzle.
- volts, resistance, amps
- volts= amps x resistance
- resistance= volts x amps
- amps= volts divided by resistance
gases used:
- argon
- helium
- argon helium mixture
materials that can be welded:
- on AC setting aluminum can be welded.
- also on AC setting magnesium and its alloys and cast iron can be welded
- on AC setting aluminum can be welded.
