Disadvantages
- An expert system will not be able to relate to a patient
- It can rely on some patients entering all their correct symptoms and will not be able to examine the patient
- Expert systems are expensive
Advantages
- The knowledge in a database can be more than a human is capable of remembering
- New data can be added (no need to learn as much info)
- Expert systems can out work a human. Plus can be upgraded with newer software / hardware
- No issues with embarrassment talking to a doctor.
